Ares fixtures light up Westergasfabriek, Amsterdam

From now on, standard LED lighting with RGBW control is used in the Zuiveringshal West. The new LED setup reduces energy cost by a stunning 65% compared to the old halogen lighting. Later this year, the Transformatorhuis, the Gashouder and the Machinegebouw will also be equipped with new LED lights.

The RGBW color control gives organizers the opportunity to influence the athmosphere with numerous color combinations. The installation is easily operated using the control panel in the hall, or through an art-net connection on the light table.

Making locations more durable
The installation of LED lighting in event locations is part of a big innovation project of the Westergasfabriek, meant to improve durability of buildings and terrain. The Westergasfabriek takes part in the pilot ’Verduurzaming Rijksmonumenten’ by the ministry of OCW, which promotes the gathering of knowledge on how to make monuments more durable, while maintaing characteristic features.

Besides LED lighting the Westergasfabriek will invest in isolation, waste disposal and solar panels on the roof of the Gashouder, which will provide power to inhabitants of the region. At this moment, fully green power is already being bought in collaberation with several Amsterdam-based cultural institutions.
